Sometimes you're lucky enough to have friends overseas, and that gives you the chance to live a truly authentic American experience. Lodi is a city in central California, famous for its wine production, but above all, it's one of those cities that makes you feel like you're part of one of those many American TV shows you dreamed of being in.
I tend to be a well-organized person, I like to plan my days, especially when I'm on vacation and I have to visit a new place. But. Making this 'exception' allowed me to spend 5 days without programs, in total relaxation, simply enjoying California life. The family that hosted us made sure that we kept ourselves busy, involving us in their typical summer habits. A boat ride on the Delta, lunch at a Chinese restaurant, a family barbecue in the garden, a walk in the neighborhood, dinner at sunset on a quiet Friday night, a movie on the sofa in a living room with windows overlooking the quite driveway. Did I already mention that Lodi is called the 'wine country'? Well, it is actually full of wineries, some very chic (they are also used as locations for birthdays and events). #Fun fact: the right time to go is 5 p.m. One crazy thing about California is the weather! It's practically impossible to pack a 'seasonal' suitcase. In the same day, I needed: a tank top and shorts, a sweatshirt, a scarf, flip-flops, and socks... insane!!! They say that the best way to get to know a place is to come into contact with its culture, which is manifested in the way of life and the habits (traditions) of its inhabitants. Well, I have to say that I agree wholeheartedly. I felt like a super American, even though I'll never be able to make that melodic sound when I speak... blablabla!
